Let’s talk about PR Sreejesh. Shall we? All the hockey fans out here must have recognised his name, but all those who have not, PR Sreejesh was the captain of the Indian Hockey team and played as a goalkeeper. He has played in four Olympics for India and is now serving as the coach of the Indian Junior Hockey team. He is a real testament to hard work and talent. Just think about it: representing our national game at the Olympics as a captain is such a significant achievement. He is no doubt one of the elite athletes India has today. He is also a 2025 Padma Bhushan awardee and played a vital role in winning a bronze medal in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
From saving goals on the field to now shaping India’s future hockey stars, PR Sreejesh has always inspired us with his grit, discipline, and passion. Now you might be thinking, what does all this have to do with hair care? There is a connection here. Behind that confident, determined persona was something that silently bothered him for years—hair loss.
Today, as a junior team coach, his role has shifted from wearing a helmet on the turf to becoming a public figure, mentoring and guiding youngsters. With this transition came the desire to regain his youthful, confident look—one that truly matched the energy and passion he carried inside. And that’s where Dermalife and Dr. Gaurav Garg, a leading name in hair transplant in India, entered the scene.
Dermalife Hair and Skin Clinic is not just another name in the hair transplant industry in India. We have built a strong reputation, earning the trust of celebrities like Shaji Chaudhary, Sananad Verma, Bakhtiyar Irani, Salim Zaidi, and many more.
The revolutionary Boosted FUE hair transplant technique, combined with a team of seasoned hair transplant experts, has made us a go-to clinic for anyone dealing with significant hair loss and looking for natural hair transplant surgery.
Like PR Sreejesh and other celebrities, we also had our fair share of challenges. We had this constant urge to stay ahead in the game, and that is why we are constantly striving to be better and improve what we offer to our clients. Our Boosted FUE hair transplant technique is a game-changer. It provides natural-looking results and minimal downtime.
Here’s a real-life glimpse into PR Sreejesh’s hair transplant surgery in Delhi— a powerful transformation that is more than just cosmetic.
The Mental Game Behind the Hair Loss
Hair loss can impact anyone, even sports icons. Despite being one of India’s most celebrated hockey goalkeepers, Sreejesh wasn’t immune to receding hairlines and thinning crowns. Over the years, especially during his professional playing days, he kept his head covered with protective gear. That unintentionally masked his hair loss from the public eye.
But once he stepped into a new role—coaching India’s junior hockey team—there were more media appearances, interviews, training camps, and events. The spotlight was no longer just on his performance—it was now on his personality and appearance too.
This shift made him pause and reflect.
“As a coach and mentor, I wanted to feel confident in front of my players. I wanted to be more social and I didn’t want my hair loss to become a distraction—not for me, and certainly not for them.” – PR Sreejesh.
Research & The Decision: Why Dermalife?
When we talked to PR Sreejesh about what made him choose Dermalife Hair and Skin Clinic for his hair transplant in Delhi, we learned these things. Sreejesh did his homework. He looked up different clinics, spoke to peers, read reviews, and analyzed before-and-after photos. What stood out was Dermalife’s success rate and the leading hair transplant technique that is performed here. Above all, the experience of Dr. Gaurav Garg, who has treated celebrities, athletes, and professionals alike, led him to choose him. He decided to place his trust in Dr Gaurav Garg, like other celebrities did.
Dr. Gaurav Garg, the leading hair transplant surgeon in Delhi, is known for:
- Natural-looking hairlines
- High graft survival rates
- Minimally invasive techniques
- Personalized treatment plans
- Hygienic and safe hair transplants
- Best post-operative care
All these things matter a lot, and that is what makes Dr. Gaurav Garg the number one celebrity hair transplant surgeon in India and Delhi.
PR Sreejesh’s Hair Transplant Process
The First Step: Detailed Consultation
Before undergoing any major cosmetic surgery, the patient enters into a detailed consultation with the doctor. So did PR Sreejesh, and during a thorough hair consultation, here is what happened:
- Dr Gaurav Garg first chatted with him and listened to his problems, like why he wanted hair transplant surgery.
- The team and his staff then assessed his scalp to check the size of his donor area and the recipient area, too.
- During the complete assessment, it was identified that he had Grade 4-5 androgenetic alopecia with visible recession in front and thinning on the crown.
- Since Sreejesh is an athlete, the team also reviewed his past health conditions, habits, and lifestyle.
- After careful examination, it was decided that 4800 grafts would be required for his hair transplantation surgery in Delhi at Dermalife. This number of grafts was needed to restore his natural hair density.
- Dr Garg decided to use a boosted FUE hair transplant in this case because it is a minimally invasive technique that provides the best, most natural-looking results.
What is Boosted FUE Hair Transplant?
We have mentioned the name “ Boosted FUE Hair Transplant “quite a few times now. But what exactly is this procedure? So what happens in this procedure is that the hair transplant surgeon will remove grafts from the donor area of your head. It could be the back of the head or the sides of the head. The extracted hair follicles are immediately implanted into the recipient area.
During this procedure, the total time between extraction, storage, and implantation does not exceed one hour, which can be anywhere between 3 to 8 hours in a conventional hair transplant procedure. Ordinarily, anywhere between 10 to 20 percent of grafts could be lost during this storage process, which is significantly lower in a boosted FUE hair transplant in Delhi.
Another thing that makes this technique a big hit is the “ NO ROOT TOUCH TECHNIQUE.” During this procedure, the roots of the grafts are not touched. Dr. Garg and his team avoid crushing, pinching, or damaging the root with forceps during extraction or implantation. At Dermalife, we use proper techniques and tools to hold the graft by the upper part (epidermis or hair shaft), not the root. This care is what boosts graft survival rates to over 90–95% in expert hands.
Lastly, the patient is given PRP therapy to boost hair growth after the hair transplant. PRP therapy enables roots to attach to the skin quickly and reduces the chances of a failed hair transplant.
Second Step: Pre-Surgery Evaluations
PR Sreejesh’s second step in his hair transplant surgery in Delhi was detailed pre-surgery evaluations that included CBC, blood sugar tests, coagulation profiles, and allergy checks. Dr. GARG will perform a thorough analysis of the scalp to design the hairline scientifically and artistically. PR Sreejesh’s before-and-after photos were also taken for complete documentation. Consent forms were signed, and his counselling was one so that he could have realistic expectations with his hair transplant surgery at Dermalife, a leading hair transplant clinic in Delhi.
Third Step: 8 Hours of Patience, Precision & Care-The Surgery
PR Sreejesh underwent his hair transplant surgery in one day at Dermalife, which lasted approximately 8 hours. While that may sound long, the procedure was divided into smooth, manageable steps, with coffee breaks and stretching pauses in between to ensure his comfort.
Here’s a complete breakdown of the process:
Designing the Hairline – Where Art Meets Science
One of the most crucial aspects of PR Sreejesh’s hair transplant was designing a hairline that not only covered bald spots but also restored the balance of his facial aesthetics.
Dr. Gaurav Garg took precise measurements and used his years of experience to create a custom hairline that looked age-appropriate, natural, and masculine.
This wasn’t about just placing grafts—it was about understanding Sreejesh’s face shape, expressions, and personality.
Here’s what made the difference:
- The hairline was designed to match his natural growth pattern
- Care was taken to avoid a sharp or artificial “wig-like” line
- The angles and density were adjusted to reflect how real hair naturally grows
Because in a hair transplant, the hairline is your identity, and when it’s done right, no one can tell it was ever gone.
Head Shaving & Pre-Op Preparation
- The procedure began with shaving/trimming the head, which enabled the follicles to be extracted precisely.
- The recipient and donor areas were marked
- The marked areas were cleaned with Betadine.
- Local anesthesia was carefully administered to ensure a completely pain-free experience.
- Sreejesh was comfortably positioned on a surgical recliner with neck and back support.
Slit Making in the Recipient Area
- Dr. Garg designed a natural, age-appropriate hairline for Sreejesh. After that, tiny incisions or “slits” were created in the balding zones (front and crown), keeping in mind:
- Natural angles
- Hair direction
- Density pattern for a realistic look
Donor Area Extraction
- Using a micro motorized FUE punch tool, Dr. Garg and his expert team extracted approximately 4,800 grafts from the donor area under high magnification.
- Each graft, containing 1–4 hair follicles, was preserved in a nutrient-rich solution to maintain viability.
Graft Implantation
- The extracted grafts were then carefully implanted into the prepared slits. Dr. Garg’s team ensured even distribution, strategic density, and alignment with Sreejesh’s facial features. This stage took the longest, as each graft had to be placed with pinpoint precision.
During the entire procedure, PR Sreejesh was given multiple breaks that helped him relax. Since it was an 8-hour surgery, Sreejesh was offered a coffee and snacks break.
Step 5: Post-Surgery Care
0–24 hours post-surgery:
- His scalp was bandaged.
- PR Sreejesh didn’t have any discomfort after the procedure.
- Antibiotics and pain meds are given to reduce pain and swelling.
- Touching and rubbing the scalp was prohibited.
1st to 7th day:
- The next day, the bandage was removed and further instructions were given.
- First gentle head wash guided at the clinic.
- Dr Garg instructed Sreejesh to rest.
- He was given specific sleeping instructions that helped him reduce post-surgery swelling.
- Washing and exposing hair to the sun were strictly prohibited.
- Crustings and scabs were allowed to fall naturally.
General Instructions to PR Sreejesh
- Avoid Alcohol, smoking – 15 days
- Gym, running – 2 weeks.
- Helmet – 2 weeks
- Hair oil & styling – 3-4 weeks
Step 6: Second Follow Up after 25 days
In the second follow-up with Dr Gaurav Garg, the best celebrity hair transplant surgeon in India, he checked his hair growth in the recipient area. His donor area was also recovering well.
Step 7: Third Follow Up|| PRP
During his third follow-up, Dr. Garg told Sreejesh that 40% of his hair has grown back, and it will take at least one and a half years to see his complete hair transformation. Also, during his third follow-up PR, Sreejesh was given PRP, which would further help to boost hair growth. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) contains growth factors from your blood. When injected into the scalp, it:
- Increases blood supply to hair follicles
- Stimulates dormant follicles to enter the growth phase
- Strengthens existing hair and reduces shedding
- Speeds up healing after a hair transplant
Overall, PRP nourishes the follicles and creates a healthier environment for hair to grow faster and thicker.
